Caleb Quaye Remember The Elton John Band From Rock of the Westies & Blue Moves (Interview 6)

“Rock of the Westies” in 1975 and “Blue Moves” the following year marked the end of the heyday for Elton John in the 70’s. After the latter album Elton only had 4 Top 40 hits in the U.S and three in the U.K. The late 70’s featured an Elton John who was mixing in different sub-genres to his sound and mixing it up a bit with band members. The group, however, of those two albums mentioned certainly had a kick to them!

“Blue Moves” was Elton John’s second double studio album after “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” It got mixed reviews from some fans with it’s there were a lot of styles going on. Elton John has gone on record many times saying it’s one of his favorite album. The project started with an instrumental written by Caleb Quaye called, “Your Starter For.”

We will have more from our interview with Caleb Quaye next week. – by John Beaudin
