Lindsey Buckingham Says Fleetwood Mac Is a Cover Band
Lindsey Buckingham Thinks the new incarnation of Fleetwood Mac that features Mike Campbell and Neil Finn as his replacements is a cover band.
Two days ago we reported that Buckingham and the rest of Fleetwood Mac had reached an out-of-court settlement but since the guitarist is promoting his “Solo Anthology” so we are bound to hear much more about how he feels about his split from Fleetwood Mac.
StereoGum asked if he’d be up to joining the band again, “Look, it’s Fleetwood Mac, Anything’s possible. Maybe they’ll get it out of their system. If they ask me to come back, would I? Sure, because to me, I think the lack of a proper farewell tour, if that’s what we’re doing, that doesn’t undercut, like I say, the legacy that we have so carefully built as the five of us, which they’re not doing right now. I don’t know what they’re doing. It’s a cover band kind of deal, and Stevie [Nicks] may be enjoying that, and that’s fine. If she is happy doing that, there is no one outcome that I think is going to be okay.”
He also told the website that he thinks Mick Fleetwood might be too embarrassed or weak-willed to contact him and doesn’t expect Stevie Nicks to reach out because as he put it, “It;’s all her trip” and that she’s being needy right now. – by John Beaudin
