
August 9, 2022 – Lamont Dozier was one of the most prolific songwriters of all time. Their team was known as Holland-Dozier-Holland featuring, Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland.
Let us look at just a few of the huge hits that they wrote including ten out of the Supremes twelve number 1 hits like, “Baby Love,””Stop, In the Name of Love,” and “You Keep Me Hangin’ On.”
There were also the hit, “You Lost the Sweetest Boy,” by Mary Wells and “Heatwave” by Martha and the Vandellas. The trio had a few more with Martha Reeves including, “Quicksand,””Live Wire,””In My lonely Room,””Nowwhere to Hide,””Jimmy Mack.”
Marvin Gaye got a strong touch of the magic courtesy of, “Can I Get a Witness,””Baby, Don’t Do It,” and”How Sweet It Is(To Be Loved By You).”
We certainly can’t put this list without mentioning the Supremes again. Hit’s like, “Where Did Our Love Go,””Baby Love,””Come See About Me,””Stop, In the Name fo Love,””Back in my Arms Again,””Nothing But Heartaches,””I Hear a Symphony,” and “You Can’t Hurry Love” to name a few.
The trio were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1988.

John Beaudin has been in major market radio (Edmonton, Vancouver & Calgary) for 40 years and a music journalist since 1989. He graduated from Broadcasting school as a newsman so he would have the skills to write about the artists that inspired him since he bought his first album, “Madman Across The Water” by Elton John as a teen. In the ’80s Beaudin was the host of the syndicated radio show “The Cross Canada Report” which had two versions (Rock and A/C). Beaudin was also asked to be a judge at the Juno Awards (Canada’s answer to the Grammys) Twice. He has anchored every position in radio including morning and afternoon drive and was a Program and Music Director for The Breeze and California 103 in Calgary. He currently hosts a weekly evening show at Move 103.5 (formerly QM-FM) in Vancouver and on iHeartRadio.
