June 19, 2019 – Neal Morse’s new album is the rock opera and we are going to talk about some of the albums top tracks and the making of “Jesus Christ – The Exorcist.” First the beginning.
When I was programming radio I would try to teach my music people to sure look for hooks and hits but also feel the music. How does it make you feel? I’m not a Christian but I felt “Jesus Christ – The Exorcist.”
One of my favorite tunes on the album is called “Getaway” it’s a big powerful tune
On the album, Neal Morse plays the part of Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who presided over the trial of Jesus. He’s a controversial figure. I asked him if he always planned on playing that role?
Next, the track “Jesus Temptation” a-rockin’ tune which made me ask about pacing on the album. The hills and valleys. Was it conscious?
The tune “There’s a Highway” to me had a seventies feel to it. I asked him about that.
The last track on the album is a reprise of the track Neal just talked about “Love Has Called My Name” The song, as I told Neal sounds like a hit so I assumed that was planned?
